In Arizona, as we all know, there are two seasons. Winter and Summer! A long Summer! Have you bought your sun block yet?

Many of my customers bring with them their current sun screen for me to look at and see if it is appropriate protection for their skin. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of buying a block that has Titanium Dioxide or Zinc Oxide, or both, as their active ingredients.

My customers know this story well by now, but for you, my new reader, here it is: Do you know the difference between sun block and sun screen? Sun screen is like a mosquito net: it allows some sun through. Sun block is a black umbrella, no sun is coming through. However, you cannot rely on the fact that you apply the block early in the morning and you are protected for the rest of the day! Please read the small print of your product. Many of the blocks are not water proof; so if you go swimming or if you exercise and perspire, you will need to re-apply!

To my young customers, please do NOT go to a tanning salon. If you must go, please protect your face, neck and upper chest with a white towel.

Any questions? Comments? Please call me at 480-775-1413 or send me an e-mail at hewitt11@cox.net.

Have a fun and safe Summer without a sun burn and your face will say THANKS!
